We have been working hard here at Uku to create an incredible summer of events that will spread ukulele joy and continue to grow our mission and vision. We wanted to take a moment to connect with you and share all of what’s ahead, and how you can get involved.
It’s all kicking off with Michael Franti’s Stay Human Party in the Park on Thursday, June 6th, and you’re invited! The evening will include a screening of Michael’s award winning film, STAY HUMAN, acoustic music, kid zone, yoga session and some of Denver’s best food trucks. Make sure to stop by our ukulele jam lounge and get your photo taken in the photo booth!
Take Note Colorado Partnership
We’ve been honored with a partnership with Take Note Colorado, Governor Hickenlooper’s initiative to provide musical instruments and instruction to every K-12 student in Colorado. TNC aligns perfectly with Uku’s principle of sharing music and giving back to our communities, so this opportunity was one we jumped on immediately. We will be donating ukeleles to TNC and co-hosting dozens of musical events in public libraries around the state throughout June and July. Follow along on our social media to see kids get their hands on a uke for the very first time!
Bumbershoot Music Festival
Yes, we will be at Seattle’s biggest music festival this summer, and we can’t wait! This epic event is going to be an especially memorable one as we’re creating an art installation with 150 Uku Ukuleles on festival grounds! The benefits are twofold: The installation will spread ukulele awareness and happiness, and the ukes used in the installation will be donated to Seattle public schools at the end of the festival. Win/win.
Now that the sun is out and everyone’s getting ready for barbecues, beach days and camping trips, we want to see where your Uku takes you! It’s no secret that ukuleles create community, and we’ve love to be a part of those moments with you. Snap a pic or video of you and your Uku this summer and post it to Instagram of Facebook so we can see. The person with the wildest or funnest shot will win some official Uku gear at the end of the summer! Don’t forget to tag @ukuglobal and #SummertimeUku.
Lastly, we want you to know that we’re dedicated to developing our programs for giving back to initiatives that support music education and trauma healing. We donate 5% of all of our profits to organizations that work in these spaces, and we’re eager to expand the ways in which we’re involved. Check our social media every Tuesday for #UkuGives updates and a peek behind-the-scenes of what it really means to spread ukulele happiness.
